What is NHS?The National Honor Society is a national and federal organization with various chapters in many American high schools. Its purpose is to congratulate students for their ability to exercise the Four Pillars: Character, Scholarship, Leadership, and Service.
-
What does NHS do?The purpose of the National Honor Society is to recognize students for their various achievements. It does not necessarily have to be about academia. It could be about an internship, a job shadow, a science fair project, an athletic award, or really anything that makes you an outstanding Liberty Falcon! We think that recognition is important to inspire others and to keep the Liberty Community motivated to do more. Contact us if you think you are deserving of recognition.

Can underclassmen join?Unfortunately, no. There is a 3.5+ GPA requirement which is determined only after you have completed your third semester (Semester One of Sophomore year). If you are interested in joining, but you are stressed about not being able to make the cut, you can talk to our current members and Officers early. It is part of our duty to serve the community and what better way than to help out Liberty's youngest and brightest (no seriously, our members have to have at least 20-hours of volunteer tutoring in order to keep being members)!

What are the Four Pillars? The Four Pillars of National Honor Society is our set of values that we expect all members to follow. The Pillars are Character, Scholarship, Leadership, and Service.

When are hours due?Your community service hours are due usually in the spring of your Junior and Senior year. The specific due date can change pending the decision of the current Cabinet so please stay in contact with your officers to determine the specific due date. Otherwise, you might get cut.

I have terrible grades but want to join NHS. How can I?Our members are required to have at least 20-hours of teaching/tutoring community service hours. Contact an officer and they can redirect you to a member who is willing to help you bring that GPA up!

Who are NHS members?National Honor Society members are exemplary students who are passionate about learning. All of us have different skills, dreams, and futures. What we all share in common is the same drive to be the best and to improve ourselves. We are not just about academics. To be in NHS you must be a leader, a scholar, and a good samaritan. It is important that you are unique too so that our club isn't filled with like-minded people. NHS members are go-getters and we like to view ourselves as more of a loose-knit community of people who want to go to college and do things to help each other out. Members can only be upperclassmen but it is very important that underclassmen feel inspired to take on the duty of preserving the NHS fire at Liberty!

Are you guys planning to do a scholarship program? One of the main goals of the 2018-2019 Cabinet is to establish a long-lasting legacy for NHS at Liberty High School. Part of that goal does include starting a scholarship program. Details of that are still to be worked out but we do know that applicants will be limited to Liberty NHS Members.

I'm not receiving any NHS email updates like my friends are. What do I do if I want to be notified about this stuff? Our email list is managed by our Officers. All members are supposed to give us their frequently used emails and then the Officers are responsible for inputting this information into our email system. If you are not receiving our updates it usually means that you have been cut from the Chapter, which is usually because of insufficient hours. If you think there has been a mistake, please contact an Officer right away because we don't want you to miss anything!
