Maliah is a high-achieving student-athlete at Liberty High School. She has been on the varsity soccer, basketball and track team since her freshman year with hopes of being a 12-sport athlete. Sports tend to engross any free time she has. However, when she does have a break from athletics, she enjoys reading, writing and being active with friends and family. In school, she challenges herself by taking several AP, dual-credit and other high-level classes. She works hard to demonstrate academic excellence and hopes to be a valedictorian for the Class of 2019.

As Communications Officer, Maliah's main responsibility is to both demonstrate and help her fellow NHS members demonstrate character. An individual of character exhibits the qualities of respect, responsibility, trustworthiness, fairness, caring, and citizenship. Maliah was actually nominated by her teachers and coaches to earn the Top Golf Community Builder Award during her Junior year. This award recognized her for her positive influence and involvement within the community. Being a diligent and courteous leader, Maliah is a quintessential example of character. She challenges her fellow NHS members to strive to acquire and maintain the six elements that constitute character.

Following high school, Maliah plans to go on to college and double major in history and secondary education. She would like to start a career as a history teacher, but eventually become a history professor. While unsure of where life will take her, she is hopeful for her future.

Chivon has dreams to make a difference in healthcare. His ability to exercise scholarship earned him the privilege to intern under Dr. Gaurav Sahay and research novel cancer gene therapy at OHSU. He emphasizes to his peers the importance of perseverance in the tumultuous high school experience and to never lose sight of your goals. While healthcare is Chivon's definitive goal, he is undecided on whether he would like to pursue nursing, MD/PhD, research, or something else. He believes that living life unsure of what comes next is what makes it worth living, and he is both thrilled and terrified about what comes next after high school.

In his free time, Chivon enjoys getting to know Portland at night and hiking with friends. Lately, he has been learning Spanish. He is considering of doing a minor in French in college in order to volunteer with the Médecins Sans Frontières in his future and then a Masters in Tropical Medicine after undergraduate school.

All of the experiences and struggles he has faced are valuable to him and he is more than happy to share any advice for those who aren't shy enough to ask. Service is an important aspect to NHS which Chivon holds dear; he encourages you to reach out to him or any of the NHS team if you have questions about high school or what comes next.

Anneli is an enthusiastic student at Liberty High School who strives to help others in any possible fashion. Compassion is a primary practice as far as she is concerned and she tends to volunteer her time to help others achieve high levels of success. In addition to this - occupying most of her free time - Anneli works on a family dairy farm; being actively involved in 4-H is a top priority of hers. In school, she works to challenge academic standards by achieving above and beyond expectations via outside thinking. Demonstrating academic excellence, she hopes to be a Valedictorian for the Class of 2019.

As the Group Activity Coordinator, Anneli's main responsibility is to demonstrate leadership and assist in creating a cohesive environment for the NHS and the Liberty Community. Leaders take the initiative to aid others in a wholesome manner throughout their daily activities. Leaders help to foster teamwork unlike anyone else. Anneli strives to demonstrate this type of leadership. Being elected by the members of two separate 4-H clubs elevated her to a presidential leadership position. This honor allowed Anneli to be a positive influence and create a principled environment for these two 4-H clubs. Being a leader in many aspects of her life makes Anneli an integral piece of the NHS Cabinet by being a role model to encourage people to be better everyday.

Following high school, Anneli plans to attend college at Pacific University. She would like to become a certified nurse midwife and achieve excellence in the necessary courses. Motivation keeps her going and she is excited for what is next to come! Her motivational motto is: "Everyday is the beginning of the rest of your life. Live life how you want to."

Outside of these organizations, Kelly enjoys hobbies like taekwondo and and practicing the piano. After high school, she hopes to go straight into a four-year baccalaureate program and she is still undecided on what major to pursue.

She is also responsible for tracking hours and sending out information on a regular monthly basis regarding these volunteer opportunities. As an officer of the NHS student cabinet, Kelly hopes to increase projects and events that NHS will run throughout the year.
